Maybe I am an OLD sentimentalist

Maybe I am an OLD sentimentalist but I loved Heidi Grows Up and Heidi's Children even better than the original Heidi. Charles Tritten (translator of Heidi into French) has really taken up Johanna Spyri's theme and developed it to the point where I wanted to cry for the goodness of it. I do wish they would make them both into DVDs but I am afraid my enthusiasm is not shared by the majority, but maybe I can encourage those who liked the Heidi story to continue reading further. You will not be disappointed if you are a sentimentalist too.
The books really need to be read in the correct order if they are to be meaningful and I am wondering if other reviewers did not do this.

I read these books when I was very young, loved them then and love them now, I have read them many times. I have a granddaughter who loves to read so have bought her many of the classics..

The most beautiful book around.

Everyone, I want you to know that the most beautiful books ever written are the three Heidi books, "Heidi", "Heidi grows up" and "Heidi's children".
The last chapter in the book "Heidi grows up shows the wedding of Heidi to Peter. It also mentions Heidi's great freindship with Jamy, her schoolfreind, and how Jamy's younger sister had joined the group to be part of the werdding.
In this book, "Heidi's children", Heidi and Peter take Jamy's sister, Marta , in, as her parents have no time fot her and there is no where else that she can go.
The young girl becomes a help, although she does not realise it, and soon is Grandfathers great friend.
In the book, Heidi and Peter have twins, Tobias (Tobi) and Marta (Martali). Marta also ghelps a lot with these two.
It is a lovely story, very sad in parts such as the docotrs death, and the greandfathers death, but the book is otherwise sunny and beautiful. I advise anybody who can to order this book, it is worth the wait. And if you can geta copy of the second book, consider yourself vey fortunate!! Happy reading!!
