Excellent New Edition Of A Renowned Masterpiece

The 12th Edition of Caffey's Pediatric Diagnostic Imaging was published on July 1st 2013; the day I commenced my Fellowship in Pediatric Radiology. How could I resist purchasing for two months? Initially I struggled with the choice of the two volume hardback version versus the cheaper Kindle version. Eventually, my nostalgia and love of printed books won out and I ordered the hardback set.
I'm delighted I opted for the hardback volumes because this is a beautifully published set. Every chapter is bursting with color which is something of a novelty for the practicing radiologist! The layout is systems-based and each section is well structured and organized.
The chapters are clearly written and are more enjoyable to read than previous editions and other large academic texts. Unusually for a book of this size, the 12th edition of Caffey's is a joy to peruse and something of a page-turner!
All chapters I have read thus far are up-to-date with references to modern imaging techniques such as 3 Tesla MRI, MR spectroscopy and functional imaging and low dose CT techniques. There are references to the latest knowledge in genetics and molecular biology underlying many pediatric and fetal conditions but not so much as to alienate the humble radiologist!
As regards my dilemma regarding purchasing the print version rather than the Kindle e-book I need not have worried. I have access to the full text electronically via [...] I especially like the expanded images, videos and linking of references to PubMed available online; it's something I log onto along with StatDx at my workstation each morning.
I highly recommend the 12th edition of Caffey's to any budding Pediatric Radiologist.
